Arnab Chaudhuri, 48, was one of Indian’s most prolific animation masters. A creative genius who mesmerised everyone with his sheer brilliance and wacky, fearless style of creativity, Arnab was the director of the only Indian animation feature to be longlisted for the Academy Award. An alumni of the prestigious National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, Arnab started his career as a young animation designer at Channel V in the mid 90's. He later shifted to Hong Kong to take up the role of creative and content head of Cartoon Network for South & South East Asia. There, he worked with some of the most iconic characters like Tom & Jerry, Dexters Lab, Scooby Doo,etc. He was also one of the key people who launched the POGO channel.
Arnab’s brilliance lied in the fact that he never let the medium restrict his creativity, and instead turned around the limitations to make it magical. Arjun the Warrior Prince (2012), Arnab’s masterpiece, was nominated for every single prestigious international animation festival at that time, besides being long-listed for Oscar. It was a labour of his love, blood and sweat. In 2013, Arnab set up his own studio, Banabo, where he continued working on various animation, live action and design projects, apart from creating and directing some spectacular short films. A true master who was also passionate about teaching, Arnab inspired everyone around him to give their best, and was much loved and admired by the people who worked with him. Arnab continues to live on through his work, and through all the artists, colleagues and disciples whom he has inspired.
Born in 1936, Bhimsain obtained his diploma in Fine Arts and Classical Music from Lucknow University. In 1970, he made his debut with his first animation short “The Climb” which earned him the Silver Hugo Award in the Chicago Film Festival.
Soon after, he directed and produced several animation and ad films. “Na”, “Ek-Do”, “Fire”, ”Munni”, “Freedom is a Thin Line”, “Mehman”, “Kahani Har Zamne Ki”, “Business is People” are some of his prestigious works which won him National and International awards and acclaim. He further established his repute as a director and producer with his landmark animation short “Ek Anek Ekta”. This film got him another National Award in the same year and has had over 500 screening on Indian Television.
After being hailed as a pioneer in Indian animation, Bhimsain diversified into Feature film production. In 1976 his first feature film “Gharaonda” became an unprecedented success. Hailed as a milestone by the public and press alike it fetched more than 30 awards including 5 Filmfare awards. He himself received Best Critics award for the film. This was followed by two other successful feature films, of which “Doooriyan” bagged yet another Filmfare award. “Tum Laut Aao” won more accolades and rave reviews, which further strengthened his credentials as a sensitive filmmaker.
In 1985, Bhimsain ventured in T.V.serial production with a highly successful and popular sitcom “Choti Badi Baaten” based on superstitions. During the same period he also made several profound and purposeful documentaries like “Der Aaye Durust Aaye”, “Shaadi Shaadi”, “Jeevan Rahasya”, “Setu” and “Roshni”. His documentary “Kathni Karni Eksi” fetched him two National awards in 1990.
In 1991, he revitalized the Indian animation scenario by making India’s first computer aided animation series “Lok Gatha” based on folk tales. This path breaking series fetched him 3 National awards. Apart from this he also made India’s largest animation project till date in the form of a 26 episode series “Vartmaan” aired on Doordarshan.
Bhimsain also has the distinction of being the first Indian animator to jury 2 Int’l festivals- Annecy Animation Festival, France (The Cannes of Animation) & Ottawa Animation Film Festival, Canada besides being the Chairman of President’s National awards Jury – 2005.
He is also credited with the Internationally co-produced Indian animation films, ”Locked” and “Trade” with the National Film Board of Canada. His recent animation film ”The Prince and the Magician” won the 5th Mumbai International award for the best film in 1998. The same film has been selected for the screening purpose in Matita Film Festival, Italy, 1999.
In the last so many years Bhimsain has 16 National and 7 International awards to his credit, apart from bagging many prestigious popular awards. Recently he was awarded the Jurors Award at National Film Festival 2002 for his film Orchestra and Lifetime Achievement Awards by FICCI-Frames (2005) and Arena Animation Academy (2003).

Amy Blair, Programming Manager at YouTube Kids, is a children’s media professional with nearly 10 years of experience working with varying digital formats, including books, apps, games, and video. Amy began her career as a Managing Editor with Simon and Schuster Children’s Publishing, and has since held various roles in the digital media industry, including Sr. Merchandising Manager for Sony and Google Play.
Amy joined the YouTube Kids team in 2014, where she now focuses on Content Strategy for the YouTube Kids app. She is based out of YouTube’s headquarters in Northern California.
Lauren Glaubach has been working in Media & Entertainment her entire career, primarily in the children’s content space. A graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Business School, Lauren spent 5 years working in both strategic business development and brand management for The Walt Disney Company and ESPN. She joined YouTube in 2012, where her roles have included Global Strategic Operations Lead for the YouTube Spaces and Chief of Staff for the VP of Content and Operations. Lauren joined the YouTube Family & Learning team when the app launched in February 2015.
Lauren now runs the YouTube Kids Content Programming team, based in California.
A metallurgist by formal education, Abhijit got into advertising after a mixed bag of experiences that includes working in a steel plant, manufacturing textile dyes, trading in saris and a few miserable attempts at exporting playing cards and match-boxes from India.
He started out as a copywriter with Enterprise Nexus in 1997 and joined Ogilvy in 1999. Abhijit was the National Creative Director of Ogilvy India till January 2015. Some of the brands he has helped build over the years include Cadbury Dairy Milk, Fevicol, Asian Paints, Google, Star TV, Tata Sky, Bajaj Pulsar and Perfetti.
Abhijit has recently embarked on his new independent venture, Sideways Consulting, a creative problem-solving outfit that aims to infuse right-brain thinking into every aspect of a business.
Drawing from its multi-disciplinary team that comprises people from fields such as behavioral architecture, design, technology, engineering, branding, experience design, writers, artists, Sideways is currently working on projects around product innovation, service design, sales issues and of course, branding and communication.
More than anything else he likes to boast about his huge family (he has 35 first cousins!) and the fact that he has visited 23 out of the 29 states in India.
John has been heading animation studios and making animated feature films and television for over 25 years. He built and managed the Walt Disney company’s London studio, later built and ran Warner Bros.’ Feature Animation Division in London, delivering feature films and television episodes, and coordinating other London and European collaborators. His extensive global experience includes being based in the USA as Senior Vice President and General Manager of 20th Century Fox’s Animation Studios and independently producing projects in studios across the world including France, Germany, Canada, Australia, India, China, Vietnam and Singapore.
With almost two decades of experience in the industry, Ronojoy Chakraborty’s illustrious career started as a trainee promo director in ZEE Cinema channel in 1998. He went on to become producer for Eenadu Regional Network(ETV) from 1999 till 2004. Then for almost 10 years, he was at Nickelodeon creating and curating content. Presently VP& Programming head for Kid’s channel at SPN, Ronojoy has been creative director for over 850 episodes of locally produced animation products. An independent creator and writer by passion, Ronojoy believes in shows with a soul.
A well respected veteran, Dong-Su Jung has been involved in a variety of streams in the industry. He is currently the Director of Business at ICONIX Entertainment, Korea. Before joining ICONIX, Dong-Su worked as the Marketing Director for the #1 gaming company in Korea. He has played instrumental roles in the marketing and advertising activities for some of the most celebrated brands including game collaboration with DreamWorks Animation, KBO (Korea Baseball Organization) sponsorship and the biggest and oldest women’s wear brand in Korea.

Charuvi Agrawal is a practicing artist in the domain of animation and fine arts. She graduated from Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, Canada. Charuvi founded Charuvi Design Labs in 2010 and she has been instrumental in CDL's rise from an award winning design lab to a renowned animation studio based in New Delhi. She is inspired by the nuances of human senses and experiments with them in her work, notably her charismatic 3D animated rendition of Shri Hanuman Chalisa. Her initiative today has blossomed into a think tank where she support and guide creative artists and designers.She is a gold medalist in fine arts from the College of Art, University of Delhi. In her pursuit of creativity she has amassed expertise in painting, sculpting and creating interactive art installations. She has delivered lectures, conducted workshops at prestigious events such as SIGGRAPH, Google, India Design Forum and Indian Institutes of Technology (Delhi).

Madhu Sudhanan is one of the pioneers of the Indian Visual effects and computer animation industry. He earlier produced several TV Commercials and Corporate Films before he started working on motion pictures. He is serving the global visual effects and animation industry for the past 19 years.
Madhu has produced visual effects for more than 70 Indian motion pictures and several TV commercials. He was instrumental in highlighting India’s artistic skills by supervising few shots in The Lord Of The Rings – The Return of The King which ultimately won Academy awards for best visual effects. His recent work on Vishwaroopam created waves and currently filmed Vishwaroopam 2 and Uttama Villian for the legendary star Shri.Kamal Haasan.

Philippe Gluckman is currently Creative Director for the Dreamworks Dedicated Unit, a position he’s occupied since relocating to India in October 2008. As such, he oversees the creative and technical execution of the projects produced within the unit, most notably Dreamworks Animated Feature Films such as Puss in Boots, Madagascar 3 and Rise of the Guardians. Most recently, he was the Visual Effects Supervisor for The Penguins of Madagascar, the first Dreamworks Feature Film to be principally produced in India.
Prior to this, Gluckman acted as Visual Effects Supervisor for DreamWorks Animation’s 2008 animated feature Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, a role he previously also held on such animated hits as Shrek the Third and the original Madagascar.
He began his career as a traditional 2-D animator, as a partner with Storyboard and as an assistant animator at Cartoon Farm, both located in Paris. Gluckman studied graphic arts at the Ecole Nationale D’Arts Appliques, Paris.
Shilpa Ranade - an alumnus of Industrial Design Centre (IDC) now teaches Animation at IDC, IIT Bombay, a discipline she has helped establish in 2006. She did her MPhil in Animation from the sagacious Royal College of Art, London. She has directed short animation films for Channel 4, UK and her works have travelled the world bagging numerous accolades. She is a founding member of Damroo, a project involved in creating content for children. She created an animated feature film for the Children’s Film Society of India, ‘Goopi Gawaiya Bagha Bajaiya,’ based on the original text by Upendrakishore Raychowdury. A true artist with a strong and enlightened social view, Shilpa believes that art is the means of expression of an individual and her enchanting works emanate her vast world view through artistic eyes!
Anil Wanvari is a trade analyst turned media entrepreneur who has many pioneering initiatives to his credit. On the internet front he has set up Indiantelevision.com, tellychakkar.com, animationxpress.com and radioandmusic.com. All are successful properties.
Wanvari started Indias most credible television awards The Indian Telly Awards which are in their 13th year. He is a board member of The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, New York and has been hosting the judging of the International Emmy awards semifinals in India for the past SIX years.
He has been at the forefront at trying to push the Indian television industry globally. Wanvari is currently driving his group into the event activation and audio-visual content production space.
He has been a speaker and moderator at many Indian and international forums. Wanvari is passionate about photography, reading, learning the internet and technology, travelling and spending time with his colleagues at work, his father and his beautiful wife and two children in India.

Regularly invited as a speaker at prestigious festivals and forums that include, TEDx, Anifest India, Hamburg Film Festival, Asifa India amongst many others, he is also a visiting faculty at premier Design Schools that include NID, MIT Pune, DJ academy of Design, Symbiosis Institute of Design and Cept University.
His 'Living Animation' series of Ideation and Story Design Workshops have been attended by hundreds of participants from Design Schools, prestigious organizations and top studios like Electronic Arts and Toonz Entertainment.

Ajit Rao started his career working with renowned architect B V Doshi in Ahmedabad in 1983. Ajit’s added passion for the art of cartooning got him to explore diverse skills in varied mediums of communication. Today Ajit is at equal ease in his roles as architect, sculptor, painter, designer, cartoonist, caricaturist, comic-book artist and animation trainer. He has headed various animation-training programs at leading studios and has been a visiting faculty at premier design and architecture institutes in India.
Dhimant Vyas is a veteran Animation Film Designer who has worked on famous Shaun the sheep series two and Purple & Brown with multiple Academy Award winning Animation Studio - Aardaman Animation Ltd U.K. He has a vast experience in creating animation using various techniques like Stop Motion, 2D Classical, Cut Out, Material, Sand, Pixilation and Flash. His works also include the title animation sequence for the highly acclaimed Hindi feature film 'Taare Zameen Par', which was directed by Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan. He has worked with brands like BBC, UNICEF, FCB ULKA, Zee TV, MTV, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon, to name just a few.
Sanjiv is a commercial art graduate (specialising in illustration) from the LS Raheja School of Art (Mumbai). The son of late Shri. Ram Waeerkar, his interest in animation was fuelled by his father’s illustrations for Tinkle comics. Sanjiv has won various domestic and international awards. As a director he has worked on animation production with companies from across the globe including the famous ‘Meena’ and ‘Sara’ projects for UNICEF. Sanjiv has personally trained many animators and has been instrumental in setting up one of the larger animation companies in India.
Nina Sabnani is an artist and storyteller who uses film, illustration and writing to tell her stories. She graduated in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Vadodara and received a master’s degree in film from Syracuse University, NY, which she pursued as a Fulbright Fellow in 1997. Her doctoral research at the IDC focused on Rajasthan’s Kaavad storytelling tradition. After teaching for two decades at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, Nina has made Mumbai her home. Currently she is Professor at the Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay. Nina’s research interests include exploring the dynamics between words and images in storytelling. Her work in film and illustrated books, seeks to bring together animation and ethnography
He has worked in various fields of Communication Design and joined NID in 2002 as a faculty in Animation Film Design. Since 2003, Sekhar has been heading Animation Film Design and mentoring the future generation of Indian graphic storytellers. He organises an international students’ animation film festival called Chitra Katha at NID. Sekhar regularly contributes two comic strips for the Sunday cartoon column in Ananda Bazaar Patrika, a leading newspaper published from Kolkata. In May 2009, he received the CNBC-Aptech award for his outstanding contribution to animation education in India. He is also on the editorial board of Animation: An Interdisciplinary Journal, published by Sage Publications, UK.

Chetan Sharma is an award-winning animator and co-founder & director of Animagic, one of India's most reputed independent animation studios. A self-taught artist, he started in animation at the age of 15 and has become one of India's champions of 2d animation. His studio's commitment to making original content has given Indian animation some of its finest and most diverse award-winning films. His work on the design & storyboarding of the Cannes Silver winning Happy dent & Xbox 360 TV Commercials and Bollywood Feature Films: Mission Kashmir (2000) and Eklavya (2007, India’s official entry to the Academy awards 2007) for which he also designed and animated a 3 min long Title/prologue sequence, has been acclaimed widely. He has illustrated over a dozen children's books the most popular being those for 'Karadi Tales' series which won the coveted Parents choice award.
Vaibhav Kumeresh is the man behind Simpoo Singh, the famous 30-second cartoon series featured on Channel V, which tickled millions of Indians. Almost two decades later, Vaibhav is as enthused about animation and storytelling, as he was in his early days. Over the last two decades, he has contributed to some of arguably India’s favorite animated content in the field of TV commercials and channel promos. Whether it’s the Amaron Battery ad campaign, or Chulbuli for Clinic Plus, or the Vodafone Zumis, Vaibhav’s work has been bang on.
She is an independent animator who has had the rare distinction of doing an internship at Walt Disney Studios, Florida sponsored by UNICEF where she grasped the spirit of classical animation which she passed on to her hungry for knowledge colleagues back in India. One of the founders of Animagic, Gayatri also pioneered stylised animation commercials in India and directed the animation for Mahakapi, a film based on the Jataka tale of the Monkey King, for CFSI, which won the prestigious UNESCO Award in 1998.
He was graduated from the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad in 1994. Her expertise lies in the area of in e-learning, experience design and animation. She is also the Chairperson for Applied/Serious Games SIG, NASSCOM. Over the years, she has lead the design on several e-learning programs, experience design projects, games and simulations for audiences across age groups and industry verticals. The projects she has been involved in have won several international awards for innovation and design. She is focused on using emerging technologies including AR/VR, Holograms etc. and other engaging tools for enhancing learning effectiveness.
